Transmission Dynamics Advances Next-Generation Rail Technologies with FOAK 2025 Backing

FOAK 2025 1

Transmission Dynamics is driving the next wave of innovation in rail monitoring and safety, with two breakthrough projects set to transform overhead line resilience and tackle the persistent challenge of bridge strikes. Building on our market leading Trains with Brains® solutions, these new developments – IntelliPan Network® and Bridge Strikes Guardian – represent the latest step in our mission to deliver smarter, AI-enabled solutions that enhance reliability, safety, and efficiency across the network.

This year, Transmission Dynamics secured funding in two categories. In the AI for Complex Processes category, the company will deliver IntelliPan Network®, a major step forward in overhead line monitoring. Building on the proven capability of the multi-award-winning PANDAS-V® pantograph and OLE monitoring system, IntelliPan Network® will combine advanced sensors with onboard AI to provide real-time detection, automated decision-making, and protective actions. This integrated approach will allow faster interventions, reduce risk, and minimise disruption to passenger and freight services.

In the Bridge Strikes category, Transmission Dynamics will develop Bridge Strikes Guardian, a next- generation monitoring and integrity assessment system designed to reduce the impact of the UK’s 1,500+ annual bridge strikes. Unlike traditional solutions, Bridge Strikes Guardian requires no civil works and can be rapidly deployed across both urban and remote locations. Applicable to road-over-rail and rail-over-road bridges alike, it will provide continuous monitoring and reporting to help prevent structural damage, improve safety, and cut disruption-related costs.

This success follows Transmission Dynamics’ earlier FOAK achievement in 2022 with its Trains with Brains® IIoT project. That initiative integrated data from multiple train-borne monitoring systems into Network Rail’s planning processes and is now deployed on routinely operating trains.

Jarek Rosinski, Executive Chairman of Transmission Dynamics, said:

“Our involvement in FOAK 2025 with not just one, but two projects is a real endorsement of our team’s commitment to solving some of the rail industry’s most pressing challenges. IntelliPan Network® and Bridge Strikes Guardian continue our mission to deliver advanced monitoring solutions that bring measurable improvements in safety, reliability, and efficiency across the network.”

These projects are funded by the Department for Transport through the First of a Kind 2025 competition delivered by Innovate UK.
