About the role:
You will develop the applications and services behind our Global Data Network (GDN®), the Industrial IoT platform that turns millions of data points from industrial sensors into intuitive visualisations and actionable engineering insight. Working in our software team, you’ll contribute across the full stack, from TypeScript and Angular front-ends to Node.js back-end services on AWS, alongside data analysts, AI specialists and engineers. The software you build helps customers across rail, energy, mining and heavy industry understand what their assets are doing and when they need attention.
Key responsibilities:
- Design, develop and maintain features for the GDN® platform.
- Develop intuitive user interfaces for exploring and analysing industrial data.
- Develop back-end services for telemetry data ingestion, processing and aggregation.
- Integrate front-end applications with back-end services and telemetry databases.
- Develop data visualisation tools, including time-series analysis, heatmaps and engineering dashboards.
- Help ensure the performance, scalability and security of cloud-based services.
- Collaborate with software developers, data analysts and multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
- Participate in software testing, debugging and continuous improvement activities.
What you don’t need: You don’t need a computer science degree if you can show us equivalent practical experience, and you don’t need prior experience in industrial IoT, we’ll bring you up to speed on the domain.
Essential:
- Either a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a similar subject, or equivalent practical experience.
- Use of TypeScript in previous projects/developments.
- Experience with either Angular or a similar framework for customer-facing interfaces.
- Familiarity with Linux environments, testing and CI workflows, and Git.
- Understanding of software design principles, including scalability and security for back-end services.
- Good communication skills, in person and via email and video.
Desirable: Experience in several of these areas would be advantageous, but none are essential:
- Experience with cloud-hosted applications, services and databases, ideally AWS.
- Knowledge of Industrial IoT systems.
- Experience handling large telemetry or time-series datasets.
- Experience developing engineering or scientific visualisation tools.
- Experience working alongside AI or data science teams.
- Knowledge of REST APIs and modern software integration techniques.

Location and commute
Location: Cramlington, Northumberland, at our purpose-built R&D and manufacturing facility on Northumberland Business Park, 1 Innovation Way, Cramlington NE23 7FP.
Ample on-site parking, close to the A1 and A19, about 20 minutes from Newcastle, and within easy reach of Morpeth, Whitley Bay and Blyth.
Hours and conditions
Hours: Full time, office-based.
This role is based at our Cramlington office; candidates must be able to work from the office.
