About the Role
Transmission Dynamics is seeking an enthusiastic Software Engineer to help shape the future of our Global Data Network (GDN®) – our proprietary Industrial IoT platform that enables customers around the world to visualise, analyse and interpret data from intelligent monitoring systems deployed across rail, energy, mining and heavy industry.
Working as part of our growing software development team, you’ll develop the applications and services that transform millions of data points collected from industrial sensors into intuitive visualisations, powerful analytics and actionable engineering insight.
This is a full-stack software development role where you’ll contribute to both front-end and back-end development while working closely with data analysts, AI specialists and engineers to deliver innovative solutions that solve real-world engineering challenges.
Whether you’re an experienced developer or an ambitious software engineer looking to take the next step in your career, you’ll have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge Industrial IoT technologies with genuine global impact.
Our Development Environment
- Our platform is built using modern web technologies including:
- TypeScript
- Angular
- Express.js
- SQL / NoSQL databases
- Linux environments / Containers
- Cloud-based infrastructure (AWS) supporting industrial IoT data pipelines
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain features for the Global Data Network (GDN®) platform.
- Develop intuitive user interfaces for exploring and analysing industrial data.
- Develop backend services responsible for telemetry data ingestion, processing and aggregation.
- Integrate frontend applications with backend services and telemetry databases.
- Develop advanced data visualisation tools including time-series analysis, heatmaps and engineering dashboards.
- Help ensure the performance, scalability and security of cloud-based software services.
- Collaborate closely with software developers, data analysts and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Contribute ideas to the ongoing development roadmap and future evolution of the platform.
- Participate in software testing, debugging and continuous improvement activities.
About You
We’re looking for someone who enjoys solving challenging technical problems and takes pride in writing high-quality software.
You’ll be naturally curious, enjoy learning new technologies and be comfortable working as part of a collaborative development team. You’ll also enjoy seeing your software used to solve real engineering problems rather than simply building traditional business applications.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar subject.
- TypeScript development experience.
- Experience with Angular (or similar framework) for creating customer-facing interfaces.
- Familiarity with Linux environments, testing/CI workflows and Git.
- Understanding of software design principles and best practices, including scalability and security considerations when developing back-end services.
- Good communications skills, both in-person and via e-mail/video.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience working with cloud-hosted applications, services and databases.
- Knowledge of Industrial IoT systems.
- Experience handling large telemetry or time-series datasets.
- Experience developing engineering or scientific visualisation tools.
- Experience working alongside AI or data science teams.
- Knowledge of REST APIs and modern software integration techniques.
Why This Role is Different
This isn’t another web development role.
The software you develop will support intelligent monitoring systems operating on high-speed trains, rotating machinery, wind turbines and other critical industrial assets across the world. You’ll work closely with engineers and data scientists to create software that helps customers understand asset behaviour, identify emerging faults and make smarter maintenance decisions.
You’ll also have the opportunity to work with modern technologies including Industrial IoT, cloud computing, Artificial Intelligence and advanced data visualisation, while contributing to the continued evolution of a proprietary platform used internationally.
As a growing technology business, you’ll be encouraged to contribute ideas, influence technical direction and continually develop your skills across multiple areas of software engineering.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for people who are:
- Curious and enthusiastic about technology.
- Passionate about writing great software.
- Collaborative team players.
- Practical problem-solvers.
- Keen to learn and continually improve.
- Comfortable taking ownership of their work.
- Excited by innovation and emerging technologies.
- Motivated by building software with real-world impact.
